Woman who developed ‘holiday phobia’ after vomiting and diarrhoea on TUI break wins £5,400 in compensation – The Sun

A WOMAN who developed a fear of holidays after becoming ill during a TUI break has won £5,400 in compensation.

Lyndsey Woolley told a court how she was stuck in her room for two days with vomiting and diarrhoea after eating solely at her hotel.

The five-star Palm Wings Resort in Altinkum, Turkey, denied liability.

But Judge Wendy Owen ruled there were “serious shortcomings” in food hygiene at the time.

She ordered travel agent TUI to pay the sum plus £16,000 costs.

Prestatyn county court in North Wales heard Ms Woolley, of Holywell, went to the all-inclusive resort with her daughter and then partner in May 2015.

Ismail Okhan, a hotel manager, said he did not know of any other cases of food poisoning then.

But an independent hygiene audit found breaches including out-of-date food.
