WWE fans were left divided on social media over the ending to the 'weird' Universal Championship match at Extreme Rules.
Sunday's pay per view from Ohio was headlined by the meeting of champ Reigns and rival Finn Balor and his Demon persona.
The night ended in victory for Reigns, as it has done countless times over the last year as a dominant title reign continued.
Balor joined the likes of Sheamus, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Daniel Bryan, and John Cena in falling to the Head of the Table, with Reigns picking up the win thanks to a Spear.
It was a solid enough outing for the pair and gave Balor a big opportunity to mix it back in the main event scene of WWE, having toiled with great success back in NXT in recent times.
The climax of the match saw the Demon beaten down and attacked by The Bloodline before being Speared through the barricade – only to be 'resurrected' in a display of theatrics that's become something of a WWE trademark.
It meant the challenger was able to rally, with some fans even expecting him to go on and win as he made his way to the top rope to deliver his finisher – only for it to snap, sending Balor collapsing to the canvas.
That enabled Reigns to capitalise and hit another Spear for the win – an ending itself appeared to split the opinions of those watching.

WWE fans took to Twitter in their thousands to debate the merits of having Reigns retain in such a way, some blasting it as the 'worst' finish they've seen in years. Others applauded it, appreciating it as a way to protect Balor's Demon persona.
"Good match but that ending has me so so confused," said one fan. "I don’t know what to think lol.
Another, angrier viewer weighed in: "That was the worst finish I've seen since HIAC 2019. I'm done. Subscription cancelled…"
More anger came from a fan who Tweeted: "I'll admit it.. You got me. You gave me hope that Finn would win… And then you slapped me in the face for doing so with that g****** finish… And then you wonder WHY ratings drop."

One fan in favour of the ending countered: "That ending was a good creative way to protect the Demon, fans will complain about anything."
Another added: "Better than Roman beating him down and making him look weak…"
Elsewhere on the show, Becky Lynch kept hold of her SmackDown Women's title after overcoming Bianca Belair – but only after interference from Sasha Banks left the match in tatters.
