Anton Du Beke, 57, has opened up about becoming a father later in life, saying that he "loves" being an older dad.

The Strictly Come Dancing star welcomed twins George and Henrietta with his wife Hannah, 46, back in 2017 and the family now live in Buckinghamshire.

Anton, who'll be returning to Strictly as a judge later this month, said that having kids at the age of 50 completely changed his life.

"I love it,” Anton told OK! in an exclusive interview. “They’re six-and-a-half now. I just think it’s the best thing. They’re wonderful. Everyone thinks this about their own children, but I think they are pretty marvellous. It is all about them, really, that’s what is brilliant about my life."

Anton married marketing executive Hannah Summers in 2017, which was the same year that they welcomed their twins into the world.

While Anton now has a happy family life, he recently revealed on Kate Garraway's Life Stories that he grew up with an alcoholic father who stabbed him in the stomach one Boxing Day when he lived at his home in Kent.

When asked by Kate whether he thinks about his dad now that he has kids of his own, Anton said that he's "never given it a second thought" and instead looks up to his father-in-law.

"What a guy, what a man," the pro dancer continued. "If you need an example of what it's all about then I look to him."

The professional dancer joined Strictly Come Dancing for its first series in 2004 and has stuck with the show ever since. He's about to enter his 21st run – although this will be his third as a permanent judge.

He'll be joining Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse on Strictly’s judging panel and admitted that he still enjoys being on the show. "I've felt the same about it since day one," he said. "I've always loved it."

This year’s line-up includes the likes of Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Zara McDermott, Adam Thomas, Ellie Leach, Nigel Harman, Annabel Croft and Les Dennis as well as EastEnders star Bobby Brazier.

Speaking about this year's cast, Anton said that is has "something for everyone", adding: "We’ve covered the whole spectrum. You’ve got 20-somethings, then you’ve got the wonderful Angela Rippon, legend of our screen."

Strictly Come Dancing's launch show airs on Saturday 16th September on BBC One, with the full series starting on Saturday 23rd September.
