Johannes Radebe has recalled how he was once stopped by police who had claimed the Strictly Come Dancing star looked \u201csuspicious\u201d.<\/p>\n
The star, who rose to fame as a professional dancer on the BBC show, said he was approached by officers while outside one of the venues he had just performed at during the Strictly Live tour.<\/p>\n
Johannes has reflected on the shocking incident in his memoir, Jojo: Finally Home.<\/p>\n
The Strictly favourite had shared his worries with his mum, whom he was on the phone to when the police van \u201cpulled up into the parking lot\u201d.<\/p>\n
He shared in his book in quotes obtained by The Mirror: \u201cA police van pulled up into the parking lot where I was sitting.<\/p>\n

I said, \u2018Mummy, they are walking over to me\u2019. \u2018What did you do wrong?\u2019 she asked. I felt stung. \u2018Nothing\u2019, I said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen they came over I showed my ID. \u2018Is there something wrong?\u2019 I asked one of them. \u2018No, you look suspicious and like someone we are looking for’.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe they were doing their job but the fact I\u2019d just been on stage with thousands of people shouting my name and now I was being approached by police who thought I could be a criminal felt like a slap in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n Johannes went on to reveal the moment, which he says occurred in Aberdeen in 2019, had impacted his positivity from performing with his Strictly co-stars.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info<\/p>\n Despite the incident, the South African dancer managed to regain his positive nature towards the end of the tour.<\/p>\n \u201cRegardless, I wrapped up the tour oozing positive energy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The dance champion first joined Strictly in 2018, winning plenty of fans through the BBC show.<\/p>\n He went on to make history by partnering John Whaite, as the duo became the first all-male partnership on Strictly.<\/p>\n John and Johannes reached the final in 2021, but lost out on winning the Glitterball trophy to Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice.<\/p>\n
