{"id":85912,"date":"2023-09-26T07:31:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T07:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebritytidings.com\/?p=85912"},"modified":"2023-09-26T07:31:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T07:31:45","slug":"camilla-pays-tribute-to-queen-elizabeth-with-priceless-jewels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebritytidings.com\/lifestyle\/camilla-pays-tribute-to-queen-elizabeth-with-priceless-jewels\/","title":{"rendered":"Camilla pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth with priceless jewels"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>From wedding-day sapphires to a leek (diamond encrusted) Camilla has been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II with a magnificent legacy of royal jewels<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Not known for showy jewellery, Camilla pulls out the stops on big occasions<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span>Last week&#8217;s French trip featured a major tribute to Charles&#8217;s mother, Elizabeth<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>For all the latest Royal news, pictures and videos click\u00a0here<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not only does she have the title, Queen Camilla is now custodian of one of the world&#8217;s most impressive collections of jewellery.<\/p>\n<p>And however modest her taste might be in ordinary times, she has shown these priceless pieces off to great effect on grand state occasions, such as last week&#8217;s three-day visit to France.<\/p>\n<p>In many cases, Camilla has chosen to wear jewellery associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II, most notably last week, when Camilla appeared at Versailles in the George VI Sapphire diamond necklace and earrings.<\/p>\n<p>These pieces had been a wedding present to Princess Elizabeth from her much-loved father and it says much about their importance to her that, as Queen, she would later have a sapphire tiara, a bracelet and rings made to match.<\/p>\n<p>The bracelet and the rings, too, were worn by Queen Camilla the following evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/21\/16\/75691531-12545375-image-a-11_1695310789183.jpg\" height=\"951\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Queen Camilla at a State Banquet at The Palace of Versailles on September 20in the late Queen&#8217;s sapphire jewellery, including necklace, earrings, bracelet and rings<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/21\/16\/75691533-12545375-image-a-10_1695310787242.jpg\" height=\"1092\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The neckland and earrings had been given to the late Queen by her father George VI as a wedding present<\/p>\n<p><span><span>Diamonds fit for a Queen<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The most spectacular of these were of course the Cullinan diamonds, which featured at that most spectacular of occasions, the Coronation in May.<\/p>\n<p>Originally parts of the biggest diamond ever to have been found, the Cullinan III and IV were placed in her\u00a0Queen Consort\u2019s Crown, which had originally been made for Queen Mary\u00a0in 1911.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Often worn by Elizabeth II together as a brooch, the two diamonds took pride of place at the front of the crown along with the heart shaped Cullinan V, which Elizabeth II had also worn as a brooch.<\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony Camilla also wore the diamond Coronation Necklace. This was commissioned by\u00a0Queen Victoria\u00a0and made in 1858 from 25 brilliant-cut diamonds.<\/p>\n<p>The central pendant, known as the Lahore Diamond, is an impressive 22.48 carats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/21\/16\/75690953-12545375-image-a-2_1695310166936.jpg\" height=\"918\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Queen Camilla watches the RAF fly-past following her Coronation. The crown no longer features the controversial Koh-i-Noor diamond and instead displayed three of the Culinan diamonds\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/21\/16\/75690951-12545375-image-a-1_1695310163520.jpg\" height=\"863\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth wearing the Cullian III and IV as a brooch at the Service Of Thanksgiving at St Paul&#8217;s Cathedral in London in 2012<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/21\/16\/75690981-12545375-image-a-3_1695310176713.jpg\" height=\"833\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabethwears her Cullinan V diamond brooch for a service on the eve of the centenary of The Battle of The Somme at Westminster Abbey in 2016<\/p>\n<p><span><span>A reminder of Prince Albert<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The present queen enjoys wearing brooches as much as Elizabeth did.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several of them have a 19th century provenance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These include the Prince Albert Sapphire Brooch which was a wedding present from\u00a0 Albert to Queen Victoria, who wore it during the ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She described it as \u2018a splendid sapphire set round with diamonds which is really quite beautiful\u2019 and was a permanent reminder of \u2018dearest Albert\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a favourite of Elizabeth II and Camilla wore it in March in Hamburg during the State Visit to\u00a0Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The Hesse Diamond Jubilee Brooch also has an association with Queen Victoria. These include the diamond Welsh Guards Leek Brooch which Camilla wore in Wales shortly after the death of the monarch last September.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One with a particularly personal connection is the Grenadier Guards Brooch, which includes diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, and which she was given in 1942 at her first public engagements, aged just 16, when she was made Colonel of the Grenadier Guards by her father George VI and reviewed the regiment at Windsor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Camilla wore this in June during the Trooping ceremony and in April at Buckingham Palace during the presentation of new colours to the regiment \u2013 see pic below.<\/p>\n<p>Camilla has followed the late Queen\u2019s example and worn brooches on tour in acknowledgement of\u00a0 the host nation. Like Kate she borrowed the Queen\u2019s Maple Leaf Brooch for visits to Canada.
