WILKO broke thousands of shoppers' hearts when it collapsed into administration.<\/p>\n

The family-owned chain\u00a0employed 12,500 staff and ran 400 shops before it hired administrators early last month.<\/p>\n

It struggled under increased pressure from weak consumer spending and debts to suppliers.<\/p>\n

Administrators at PwC were forced to sell off\u00a0Wilko\u2019s\u00a0assets after failing to secure a rescue deal for the whole business.<\/p>\n

All 400 of its stores will close, with the last remaining shops set to shut on October 8.<\/p>\n

But PwC did manage to strike a deal with three other retailer's to buy different parts of the business.<\/p>\n

Discount chain B&M bought 51\u00a0Wilko\u00a0stores, while The Range agreed a deal to buy\u00a0Wilko\u2019s\u00a0brand for around \u00a35 million.<\/p>\n

Plus, Poundland\u00a0owner Pepco agreed earlier this month to buy up to 71\u00a0Wilko shops.<\/p>\n

B&M is yet to confirm which branches it has bought, but it said it'll give an update in November.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the first ten former Wilko locations set to reopen their doors as Poundland branches on September 30 has been revealed.<\/p>\n

Which Wilko stores are reopening?<\/h2>\n

Former Wilko shops across the country are set to reopen as Poundland outlets.<\/p>\n

Poundland\u00a0said the 71 Wilko stores it bought will stock customer favourites, including clothing, alongside any existing\u00a0Wilko\u00a0clearance items.<\/p>\n

The group said it is planning to roll out a full makeover of the stores throughout 2024 to become \u201cfully operational\u00a0Poundlands\u201d.<\/p>\n
