FOOTBALL fans were left baffled by a bizarre one-world argument between Eric Dier and Matt Doherty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pair used to play together for Tottenham, with Doherty leaving the London side almost a year ago for Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n

He is now back in the Premier League with former side Wolves.<\/p>\n

And Doherty was involved in a dramatic 1-1 clash against rivals Aston Villa on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Irishman came off the bench to help Gary O\u2019Neil\u2019s side secure a vital point.<\/p>\n

But the result could have been very different had Doherty not escaped punishment for an apparent push on Ollie Watkins.<\/p>\n

Doherty appeared to nudge him, sending the England man to the floor in search of a penalty.<\/p>\n

But the decision went against Watkins, leaving Doherty a relieved man.<\/p>\n

The incident was then discussed on Monday\u2019s Ref Watch segment on Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

And Doherty took to Twitter in praise of the decision not to award the penalty, saying: \u201cNever.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, this sparked a bizarre one-word argument with Spurs star Dier, who is close friends with Doherty.<\/p>\n

He cheekily responded: \u201cPenalty.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Doherty refused to back down, saying: \u201cExperience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dier then ended the conversation by adding: \u201cLaziness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans found the whole experience strange, with one declaring: \u201cEric and Matt back and forth with one word beefing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cWhat is going on.\u201d<\/p>\n
