The crew on the huge USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean have reportedly been served a “steak and lobster” dinner ahead of possible bombshell news, according to one report.

The US is building a massive military presence in the Middle East as it looks to send a strong message to Iran to stay out of the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The Pentagon has placed around 2,000 troops and a series of units in a state of readiness as Israel prepares to launch a ground invasion into Gaza to fight against Hamas.

This includes the deployment of USS Gerald R. Ford – the world’s largest warship that can ferry 75 aircraft – to the Eastern Mediterranean.

But there are reports the crew aboard the massive aircraft carrier were served a luxury dinner on Saturday – which is normally reserved for national holidays or the bearing of bad news.

Open Source Intelligence Monitor, which has nearly 900,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), wrote late on Saturday: “Rumors are that the crew onboard the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) in the Eastern Mediterranean have been served steak and lobster tonight for dinner.

“That is usually reserved for either Holidays (Which today isn’t) or News which is expected to Lower the Crew’s Morale like a Deployment Extension or possibly something else.”

X user “Webmiester” (@YourWebmiester), who describes themselves as a “Gulf Vet” in their bio, responded: “I can confirm this was a thing, at least when I was in.”

Open Source Intelligence Monitor replied: “I know some DDGs that do steak and lobster every Sunday for dinner, but I have never heard of a carrier having done that. I’m sure this is some kind of ‘bad’ news.”
