The Covid pandemic posed a huge threat to the high street and retail as shops shut across the country and Britons started spending more online.<\/p>\n

Now, the cost of living crisis has caused another change to our spending habits, with fewer people having disposable income.<\/p>\n

Back in August, Retail Gazette reported: “According to the British Retail Consortium, 6,000 shops have closed down in the UK in the last five years as a result of crippling business rates, a wave of administrations during the pandemic, and hesitancy around new openings.”<\/p>\n

House of Fraser, Boots, M&S, Argos, LLoyds Pharmacy, Iceland, New Look and H&M, among others, have been affected by store closures.<\/p>\n

However, other retailers are making ambitious new openings, some of which include Mango, Sephora, Screwfix, Greggs and Moss.<\/p>\n

Some supermarkets have taken a hit in recent months. Iceland is set to face a couple of closures this autumn.<\/p>\n
