US President Joe Biden signed an executive order on artificial intelligence saying it was driving change at \u201cwarp speed\u201d which carries tremendous potential. <\/p>\n
The order seeks to balance the needs of cutting-edge technology companies with national security and consumer rights, creating an early set of guardrails that could be fortified by legislation and global agreements.<\/p>\n

The order \u2014 which will likely need to be augmented by congressional action \u2014 seeks to steer how AI is developed so that companies can profit without risking public safety.<\/p>\n
