Teasing what’s to come, she added: “Much of the news is tough to watch and absorb right now, so something to look forward to on #bbclaurak this Sunday – a conversation with the glorious Sarah Snook, on her new play, Scottish accents, Shiv, and celebrity – not to be missed! More tomorrow, and back live on @BBCOne at 9 on Sunday, and on weekend #newscast with @bbcpaddy tomorrow!”

Addressing viewers from her seat live on the show, she said: “Morning, it is lovely to be back and thank you for your kind messages you sent while I was away.

“And thank you to Victoria for keeping the chair warm, it is lovely to be back here, especially with this trio at the desk.”
