A KILLER dubbed the "Clifton rapist" who spent 51 years behind bars has been locked up again after attacking a woman while on licence.<\/p>\n

Ronald Evans was first jailed 1964 for the sexually-motivated murder of 21-year-old shop worker Kathleen Heathcote.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

The predator was released in 1975 after just 11 years and went on to carry out a string of chilling sex attacks on lone women in Bristol.<\/p>\n

Operating at night, Evans became known as the Clifton rapist when he was jailed again after he was caught by a police honeytrap.<\/p>\n

The 82-year-old spent a further 39 years in prison after further offences came to light thanks to advances in scientific tests.<\/p>\n

But in 2018, he was released on licence by the Parole Board and went on to attack a vulnerable woman he met while living in London.<\/p>\n

He was hauled back to jail last August – meaning he is now one of Britain's longest-serving prisoners after clocking 51 years behind bars.<\/p>\n

Evans has now been sentenced to four years in prison after he was found guilty of sexual assault.<\/p>\n

Judge Vanessa Francis said: "The sheer length of time you remained in custody speaks volumes as to the Parole Board's view of the risk you posed.<\/p>\n

"It is apparent from your actions towards (the victim) that time has done nothing to change the fact you are a sexual predator.<\/p>\n

"You sought out a new victim that was vulnerable who you knew you could manipulate."<\/p>\n

The Old Bailey heard Evans hid behind his age to present himself as a "harmless pensioner" to the victim.<\/p>\n

In reality, he was "still very much a deviant sexual predator waiting for his next<\/span> opportunity", the court was told.<\/p>\n

Evans had met the domestic abuse victim while volunteering at a local community centre and pretended he wanted to be friends.<\/p>\n

In July 2022, he lured her to his home and bragged about receiving emails from nude women who claimed they wanted to have sex with him.<\/p>\n

He then groped the woman and told her "this kind of talk will get me in trouble" when she called to confront him the next day.<\/p>\n

The victim later only found out about Evans previous offences when she saw a documentary on the rapist.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Lauren Sales said that as a result of the sexual assault, she had stopped visiting the community centre and suffered "ongoing trauma".<\/p>\n

Evans was cleared of three other sexual offences against a second woman.<\/p>\n
