Tony Bellew has shared that him and his wife Rachael were left “skint” after he was crowned boxing world champion in 2016.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old, who has joined I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! this year, revealed that he experienced money worries shortly after his boxing success.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his career to the campmates, he admitted: “We were in the kitchen and my missus said, \u2018That it now then, that\u2019s you done?\u2019.<\/p>\n

“And I believe that a man should go out and provide for his family, probably everyone doesn\u2019t agree with this or like it anymore\u2026<\/p>\n

“I go out and work and I try to give them the best I can\u2026 she said, \u2018What do you mean?\u2019 I said, \u2018We\u2019re so far away from financial security.\u2019 We were basically f***ing skint.”<\/p>\n

He added: “I had a big, heavy, heavy mortgage. I shouldn\u2019t say skint, but I was living on fight to fight.”<\/p>\n

Tony retired in 2018 from professional boxing but originally became WBC champion at Cruiserweight in 2016.<\/p>\n

He reportedly bagged himself \u00a32.8 million after defeating David Haye, and earned \u00a34 million in 2018 after he lost to Oleksandr Usyk before he announced his retirement.<\/p>\n

Tony first started competing in 2007 and has worked as a sports pundit since his retirement.<\/p>\n

He also appeared in Hollywood films such as Creed, Creed II and Creed III, which featured Michael B. Jordan.<\/p>\n
