MILLIONS of households are starting to get cost of living payments worth up to \u00a3600 directly into bank accounts.<\/p>\n

The free cash is separate from the\u00a0\u00a3900 cost of living payment\u00a0for those on\u00a0Universal Credit\u00a0and other legacy\u00a0benefits.<\/p>\n

Instead 11.5million households are eligible for a boosted Winter Fuel Payment.<\/p>\n

The payment is usually worth between \u00a3100 and \u00a3300 for those over\u00a0state pension\u00a0age.<\/p>\n

But payments are being boosted by a further \u00a3300 through the "pensioner cost of living" payment.<\/p>\n

The money will appear in bank statements with the payment reference starting with the customer's National Insurance number followed by "DWP WFP" for people in Great Britain.<\/p>\n

If you live in Northern Ireland, your NI number will be followed by "DFC WFP".<\/p>\n

The cash boost is ebing paid out with the usual Winter Fuel Payments from November 1.<\/p>\n

Most people are paid in November and December but if you have not received it by January 26, 2024 you'll need to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.<\/p>\n

You can do this by calling 0800 731 0160.<\/p>\n

But to secure the cash, some households will need to apply for the support at Gov.UK.<\/p>\n

The deadline for you to make a claim for winter 2023 to 2024 is March 31, 2024.<\/p>\n

Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride said: "We have delivered on our promise to halve inflation and will continue to support people right across the country, including pensioners who may be facing particular challenges over the colder months.<\/p>\n

"As well as up to \u00a3600 to help our pensioners stay warm this winter, we\u2019re boosting pensions through the triple lock \u2013 increasing the full rate of the New State Pension by over \u00a3900 next<\/span> year.\u201d<\/p>\n
