King Charles has been given biodiversity gifts by an Amazonian tribe\u00a0at a\u00a0Dubai\u00a0hotel joined by Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron for the Cop28 summit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Charles, 75, joined a Commonwealth and Nature reception at the hotel hosted by Secretary General of the Commonwealth Baroness Scotland.<\/p>\n
Indigenous leaders from different Commonwealth nations were also in attendance alongside the King.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Joenia Wapichana, 59, President of the FUNAI indigenous organisation in Brazil and of the Truaru tribe of the Roraima state, gave the King a handmade decorated wooden bird.<\/p>\n
The bird, ‘Arara’, is a native Amazonian bird which is a ‘symbol of biodiversity’ and mimics the human voice, she said.<\/p>\n
‘He liked the present very much and I thanked him for everything he has done to help protect biodiversity in the Amazon,’ she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The garden bash was held to help launch the Wildfire Resilient Landscape Network.<\/p>\n
Set up by the Circular Bio-energy Alliance (CBA) and Commonwealth Secretary to combine indigenous knowledge and modern science.<\/p>\n
In a speech Baroness Scotland said the King’s attendance was ‘joyful and appropriate’.<\/p>\n
And said the initiative was ‘inspired’ by the King’s idea to pool skills and knowledge of Australian indigenous communities and Canadian scientists.<\/p>\n
Both nations have been massively hit by wildfires.<\/p>\n
The King welcomed Lord Cameron to Dubai who said ‘I would not have missed it for the world’.<\/p>\n
Charles shook hands and spoke to students at Heriot-Watt campus in Dubai.<\/p>\n
Dozens waited outside the campus with their mobile phones to grab photos of the King.<\/p>\n

As he left he unveiled a plaque before taking extra time to shake and greet the waiting students.<\/p>\n
Inside was shown examples of clean technology and innovations to fight climate change ahead of his address at COP28 environment summit tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Lord Cameron, who only became Foreign Secretary, earlier this month is also in Dubai for COP.<\/p>\n
Greeting him at the university campus, Lord Cameron said: ‘I would not have missed it for the world’.<\/p>\n
Humza Yousaf, Scottish First Minister, also warmly greeted the King.<\/p>\n
