Prince William stuns Tesco shoppers as he sells Big Issue outside supermarket

Shoppers at a Tesco store in London were taken by surprise as they spotted Prince William selling The Big Issue at the supermarket.

The Prince of Wales, 41, joined vendor Dave Martin at the Hammersmith branch in London on Tuesday, 5 December, to sell copies of the magazine, which aims to support people who are homeless or struggling financially.

Prince William first met Dave 18 months ago when they teamed up to sell copies of The Big Issue at the same Tesco store. The pair have reportedly hit it off, with sources claiming they even exchanged Christmas cards this year.

A source told The Sun: "He decided he wanted to go see Dave and swap Christmas cards and they sold The Big Issue together."

The Prince of Wales shared a photo of him and Dave on social media to mark the occasion on Tuesday. The duo sported matching red caps and gilets, emblazoned with The Big Issue logo.

"Great to be back with Dave, selling the latest edition of @bigissueuk once again!" the dad-of-three captioned the photorgraph.

William launched his Homewards project, which aims to end homelessness, earlier in 2023. He has been campaigning for support for rough sleepers ever since his late mother, Princess Diana, took him out on the streets when he was a young child.

While William was busy in Hammersmith on Tuesday, his wife Kate headed to St Thomas's Hospital in Central London to open the new Children’s Day Surgery Unit at Evelina London.

The Princess of Wales, 41, looked chic in a dark blue tailored suit and a matching top, which she paired with heels and a diamond necklace with matching earrings. Kate wore her brunette locks in bouncy curls with neutral make-up for the outing on Tuesday.

Both Kate and William have both thrown themselves into work following a tumultuous week for the Royal Family. The release of Omid Scobie's explosive book, Endgame, saw Kate named as one of the senior royals in the 'racism row' along with King Charles.

The couple put on a united display at the 2023 Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 30 November, with William appearing "protective" of his wife.

“William seemed a touch more protective than usual, holding her hand and guiding her in," former BBC Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!.

She also said Kate and William’s “business as usual” approach is the best way to deal with the current scandal, adding: “They are carrying on with their work, refusing to be drawn into a public spat about such vicious allegations."
