Ryan Thomas’ fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh pregnant with first baby

Ryan Thomas and Lucy Mecklenburgh are expecting a baby together.

The pair confirmed the happy news tonight by sharing a picture of Lucy's baby bump.

The snap showed the couple holding up a baby grow surrounded by balloons and flowers.

She wrote: "Best birthday present I’ve ever had love you @ryanthomas84 ."

Lucy's mate Lydia Bright is also pregnant with her first child and she was quick to comment on Lucy's post.

She wrote: "Wohooooooooo, we can finally scream it from the roof tops. Can’t wait for our babies to be best friends."

It's Lucy's first child, but Ryan has a daughter from his previous relationship with Tina O'Brien.

The baby news comes just weeks after the couple got engaged on holiday.

Ex Coronation Street actor Ryan, 35, popped the question to reality star Lucy, 28, on a romantic trip to Italy in June after two years of dating.

The loved-up pair currently live apart and Lucy recently admitted they have no plans to change this when they become man and wife because it's what 'works best for them.'

Lucy owns a property in London while Ryan resides in his hometown of Manchester in order to be close to his 10-year-old daughter Scarlett.

Last month Lucy and Ryan celebrated their engagement with a huge boat party on the Thames surrounded by their family and friends.

Romantic Ryan had popped the question back in July after whisking Lucy on a no expense spared trip to Italy.

Sharing details of the intimate moment with fans on social media, Ryan revealed he'd selected a private dining area in their five star Villa Treville hotel overlooking picturesque Positano .

Bullfighter Gored In the Crotch In Spain, Graphic Photos

When ya mess with bull, ya get the horns … right in the balls.

That’s the lesson decorated matador Paco Urena learned when he stepped into the Vista Alegre bullfighting arena this week at the Semana Grande Fair in Bilbao, Spain … where he ended up with a crotch full of horn.

OLE!!!!!!

Unclear how badly Urena was injured in the incident — but it seems like his man-junk survived because there are photos showing Paco proudly showing off the bull’s ears as trophies.

As you probably know … the bulls are mercilessly tortured and killed during the fights. As you can see, Urena was wielding a sword during the fight, with the intention of stabbing the bull through the heart so it can die fast. But, that rarely happens because the bull doesn’t want to die!

So, what ends up happening is a bloody, painful, torturous exhibition in front of thousands of screaming blood-thirsty fans … but hey, TRADITION RIGHT?!?

This year’s Great British Bake Off contestants are real showstoppers

Hang on.. they’re all star bakers already! From a fondant with fries to a macaroon masterpiece, how this year’s Great British Bake Off contestants are real showstoppers

An illusion cake which resembles a McDonald’s take-away.

Another which looks like a full English breakfast. A pale pink pavlova meringue wreath smothered in edible flowers and spiked with shards of honeycomb.

And — most staggering of all — a three-dimensional church made out of nothing more than simple white piped icing.

The 13 bakers, most of them young, appear to be extremely accomplished, not to say borderline professional

These are just some of the culinary feats achieved by this year’s Great British Bake Off contestants — and that’s before they have even stepped into the famous white tent.

The 13 bakers, most of them young, appear to be extremely accomplished, not to say borderline professional.

Several have Instagram accounts which are dedicated to their culinary skills. A decent handful are so skilled that they have already been enlisted to bake wedding cakes for friends.

Forget the soggy doughnuts and collapsing gingerbread houses of yesteryear (although, of course, on-the-day nerves can usually be counted on to produce a few disasters). This year’s hopefuls seem to be the best crop ever to be asked to place a bake on the gingham altar.

As GBBO judge Prue Leith said, the production team focus solely on the quality of the contenders: ‘What’s so interesting is when they’re choosing the bakers, the main thing they want to know is that they’re getting the 13 best bakers in the country.

This year’s hopefuls seem to be the best crop ever to be asked to place a bake on the gingham altar

‘They’re not set up to find somebody who’s the right ethnic mix, or the right height, or the right age or anything.’

But what, you wonder, can any of these super-bakers have to learn from Prue and fellow judge Paul Hollywood? According to Hollywood, they still have plenty of tips to take from him.

He said: ‘There were times when there was a bit of a disaster on one of the technicals. I walked in and saw it and sort of had a go at them, which caused a little bit of emotion.

‘Yes, I made them cry. They’re more pack animals now. Upset one and they all get upset.’

Not to mention their devoted Instagram followers.

Here, Alison Boshoff reports on how the GBBO class of 2019 have perfected their showstoppers before they’ve even appeared on screen…

Great British Bake Off starts Tuesday, August 27, at 8pm on Channel 4.

Youngest but what a towering talent

Russell Tovey regrets not having therapy after being stabbed in head as teenager

Russell Tovey wishes he had had therapy after he was stabbed at the age of 18.

The 37-year-old actor spoke to the Evening Standard about having counselling in the wake of his brief split from rugby player Steve Brockman last year, when he opened up about the traumatic attack.

‘I looked like a little kid, and these two were like blokes, just two horrible people,’ the Years and Years actor said.

‘But now I look back and think: what must your childhood have been like that you felt it was okay to do that?’

The attack had taken place on a train near his Essex hometown, with the two attackers punching Russell repeatedly in the face and slashing him above the ear with a knife.

‘It effed me up for about three, four years. I still have a thing, though not as much now, that if I’m walking along and feel nervous, I lose my step, lose my ability to walk properly,’ Russell said.

‘I probably should have gone into therapy.’

The beloved British actor has previously spoken about the random act of violence in The Observer, describing how two strangers followed him up the train before launching the attack.

One [of the attackers] said to the other: “Are you going to cut him or am I?”’ he recalled.

‘[I was] pouring blood everywhere… I didn’t know where it was coming from, I thought they’d cut my throat. Another passenger was giving me sugar out of a sachet.’

However, despite being treated in hospital for his wounds, Russell recently admitted that he never went to the police over the attack.

‘I didn’t press charges, I didn’t do anything,’ he told Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast in November. ‘I thought, what’s going to happen, what are they going to get? Nothing.

‘They’ll see me again and they’ll f***ing kill me. That’s what screwed me up.’

The "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." Cast Hilariously Agreed That Ming-Na Wen Is The Queen Of Napping

To celebrate the upcoming final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Jeff Ward, Chloe Bennet, and Henry Simmons caught up with us at Comic-Con to play a game of “Who’s Who?”

We found out who can always be found at craft services, who is least like their character, and even who would make the best Avenger.

View this video on YouTube

And since they’ve been working together for seven seasons, they also have some hilarious behind-the-scenes stories.

When asked “who is most likely to be caught napping on set?” it seemed to be a tie between Ming-Na and Henry.

But then, everyone remembered that Ming-Na had a recliner, pillows, and a neck massager so she could get super comfortable in-between takes.

Chloe also recalled a hilarious story where Ming-Na had someone carry around a cot on their back so she would be ready for a nap everywhere.

Ming-Na even knew that the queen of napping title belonged to her.

Basically, I love this adorable cast even more and could listen to them share behind-the-scenes stories for hours!

The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air during the summer of 2020 on ABC.

Is Cornelia Street Real? Taylor Swift’s New Song Has Fans Asking 1 Big Question

Taylor Swift’s Lover has finally arrived. As is always the case when Swift drops a new album, her loyal band of fans have begun developing their own theories as to what each song could mean. Most of the songs are easy to crack: they’re about Joe Alwyn, her boyfriend of three years. But there’s one detail in one of the songs about Alwyn that fans are questioning: Is Cornelia Street real? She named a whole song after it, after all.

Track No. 9 on Swift’s album is all about her time renting an apartment or home. In the lyrics, Swift sings, "I rent a place on Cornelia Street, I sit casually in the car." That line has fans wondering if she actually revealed the street she lived on. Swift and Alwyn keep a famously private relationship, so that kind of reveal would probably classify as a big one in the eyes of the couple.

A quick Google Maps search reveals that yes, Cornelia Street is, indeed, real. There’s a Cornelia Street in London — it’s not too far from King’s Cross Station and The British Museum, plopping it in a nice spot in the city. It’s totally possible Swift used to rent a place on Cornelia Street in the early years of her and Alwyn’s relationship. But, there also just happens to be a Cornelia Street in New York, and Swift actually rented an apartment there while her Tribeca home was being renovated. So, it’s more than likely that the Cornelia Street she’s singing about is the one in New York.

The main theme of this song is not wanting to lose "you." "You," in her case, would likely be Alwyn. (If she does, her lyrics say, she’ll "never walk Cornelia Street again.") That’s not really something you worry about three years into a relationship that, by all of Swift’s accounts in her music about Alwyn from Reputation and Lover, seems joyous.

"I don’t want to lose you" is more something you say when something is new. You’re with them, things are official, but they’re still ~delicate~. You’re over-the-moon happy knowing what you have is good, then you start to fear the other shoe is about to drop. It’s more of a first year of a relationship fear than anything else. It looks like Swift vacated the Cornelia Street apartment in 2017, which just so happened to be around the same time that she started dating Alwyn.

"Cornelia Street" the song seems like Swift dug into her early Alwyn relationship memories/feelings and fleshed this particular one out into a song.

I bet Swifties are flocking to Cornelia Street in New York right now. Maybe Swift even set up some kind of surprise for them there? She did have an event outside at mural in Tennessee when she first started doing Lover press, so I wouldn’t be surprised if something Swift-related goes down on Cornelia Street in the Lover era.

Kris Marshall on getting naked for TV’s new Jane Austen adaptation Sanditon

Taking a near-naked dip in the freezing cold, murky grey Atlantic, actor Kris Marshall might have paused to question his latest career move.

But having gone from filming Death in Paradise in the sunny Caribbean, to getting butt naked on the chilly Somerset coast for period drama Sanditon, the star could see the funny side.

Playing madcap property developer Tom Parker in ITV’s new Jane Austen adaptation, Kris’s nudie scene could rival the cherished sight of Colin Firth emerging from the water in a wet shirt in Pride and Prejudice.

Or maybe not.

“It was freezing when we filmed back in February,” the father-of-two says, shivering at the memory. “I can tell you now it’s a lot easier to bathe in 28-degree water than 8 degrees.

“We were given these flesh-coloured wetsuits but we didn’t want to look like Peppa Pig – or Daddy Pig. So we went in tiny shorts that covered our modesty.”

Filmed around Bristol and Clevedon, Sanditon might just do for the area what Ross Poldark’s bare-chested scything did for Cornwall.

And while beanpole Kris is no Captain Poldark, he did put some effort into getting beach-body ready for his starring role.

“Well, I did a bit of exercise, you know,” says the star, who played sex-mad backpacker Colin in 2003’s Love Actually, and dopey Nick in hit BBC sitcom My Family.

“But I didn’t worry too much about getting nude.

“Of all the main male characters in the show, I’m the eldest by about 15 years and here I am, the wrong side of 45, getting my kit off.”

The eight-part series is based on the first 11 chapters of what was Austen’s final novel. Sanditon remained unfinished when the author died in 1817, aged 41.

It tells the story of Parker’s dream of transforming a sleepy South Coast village into a fashionable seaside health resort.

The plot also follows his headstrong ward, Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), as she deals with its shady society characters.

Critics of the adaptation by notoriously racy period drama writer Andrew Davies will complain the story has been sexed-up.

But Kris insists the spicier elements are entirely historically accurate laughing: “The Regency period was a sexy time.

“If it wasn’t for the tuberculosis, I would have loved to live back then.

“Men routinely bathed naked. This was a sexy, witty and funny era – and they drank a hell of a lot.”

However the star, who lives in Bath with his wife Hannah and their children, Elsie, three, and Thomas, seven, admits he hasn’t actually read any Austen books, apart from Sanditon.

“I’ll probably get shot down in flames for this, but I don’t think Austen is very blokey reading,” says Kris.

And due to his lack of familiarity with the writer, he looked to more modern times for his character’s inspiration.

Beyonce Cried After Kanye and Taylor's VMAs Moment — and Pink Scolded Him

Taylor Swift wasn’t the only one who shed tears after Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

According to Billboard, Beyoncé also cried when West, 42, stormed the stage as Swift, 29, was accepting the Moon Person for Best Female Video for her music video for “You Belong With Me.”

“Yo, Taylor. I’m really happy for you. I’mma let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!” West said during the infamous moment, referencing Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” which was nominated for the same category.

In Billboard’s oral history of the moment, Van Toffler, the former president of Viacom Media Networks and Logo Group, told the magazine that, after the blunder, he walked backstage to urge Scott Borchetta, founder Big Machine Label Group (the record label Swift was with at the time), to convince the singer to stay, which is when he saw Beyoncé, 37, and her father, Mathew Knowles, crying.

“I walk behind the stage — and sure enough there is Beyoncé and her dad, and she is crying,” he said. “She was like, ‘I didn’t know this was going to happen, I feel so bad for her.’”

That’s when Toffler had the idea to tell the former Destiny’s Child member about her win for Video of the Year later that night and share the award with Swift. In an unprecedented move, the executive spoiled the results for the “Formation” songstress, who agreed to divide her time on stage with the Nashville native.

“I think perhaps for the only time in history at the VMAs — we knew who was going to win the awards, we had a plan for it [but did not tell the artists ahead of time],” Toffler said. “At some point, I let her know that she was probably going to be up on the podium at the end of the show for an award. And wouldn’t it be nice to have Taylor come up and have her moment then?”

He continued, “I had to indicate to her that she needed to stay, and perhaps this is a way to have this come full circle and let [Taylor] have her moment. I would normally not say anything, but I had two crying artists.”

James Montgomery, a former senior correspondent for MTV News, also told Billboard that Pink was among many celebrities who scolded West to his face for his behavior that night.

“During the commercial break, [West] went back down to his seat and Pink walked up to him and got in his face,”  Montgomery said. “I wasn’t close enough to hear the conversation, but she was pointing in his face and nodding her head back and forth, and giving him her two cents about how f–ked up this was and then stormed off.”

The reporter continued, “Then he was sitting there next to Amber Rose with his arm around her, and you could feel everyone in Radio City glaring at his back.”

Montgomery also added that Pink was “giving Kanye the middle finger.”

After the 2009 VMAs, Swift returned the next year to perform her song “Innocent,” which many believe to be about West and how the Cats star forgave him for the ambush. In 2016, West and Swift reignited their feud after the Chicago native released his song “Famous,” in which he raps: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.”

The rapper claimed that Swift had approved the song’s lyrics beforehand, which she denied. After West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, posted a Snapchat video in July 2016 of Swift seemingly listening to some of the lyrics from “Famous” before its release, the 10-time Grammy winner took to her Instagram to accuse the couple of “character assasination.”

“Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination,” she wrote at the time. “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”

The untold truth of Chance the Rapper

Chance the Rapper is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, but even more impressive than that is the fact that he’s managed to achieve all of his massive mainstream success on his own terms. While refusing to sign a record deal, the musician has instead self-released five mixtapes, which have all been made available for free. Chance has taken home three Grammy Awards, including best rap album for 2016’s Coloring Book, and dropped his first official studio album, The Big Day, in July 2019. The highly-anticipated release notably surpassed 100 million Spotify streams in just three weeks. (Um, no big deal.)

Despite his ongoing presence in the spotlight, there’s a lot more to Chance the Rapper (real name Chancelor Jonathan Bennett) than what meets the eye. Since debuting on the music scene in 2012, the Chicago native has made some high-powered enemies, run into some financial trouble, and landed a top secret role in a popular Disney live-action remake … but more on all of this and more below. Let’s tune into the untold truth of Chance the Rapper.

Are record labels out to get Chance the Rapper?

Amid his meteoric rise to fame, Chance the Rapper has always done things his way by refusing to sign with a record label. However, it’s not due to a lack of interest. “I’ve met with every A&R, VP of A&R, president of the labels, CEOs,” he told Fader in 2015. “I know all these people.” Basically, Chance has had the necessary connections — he’s simply chosen not to use them.

Luckily, some execs have supported the singer-songwriter in his unlikely route to success: “They’re almost like, ‘Keep going. You’re in uncharted territory, and you’re helping to shed light on what [the future of the business] will look like, and we’re all curious.'” But others have unfortunately been less kind. Chance later shared the downsides of going against the grain while speaking with Complex, alleging that certain labels have tried to stump his growth by doing things like “push [him] out of headline positions so that their artist could be a headliner or not cleared songs.”

“It’s not like a big conspiracy theory,” Chance assured, noting that some record label execs are upset because they “wanted to make money off me and I said no,” while others don’t like that he’s admittedly advised friends from signing with certain people. “When they hear that back, then they tell other people bad s**t about me.” Yikes.

Chance had the first free album on iTunes

As an independent artist, Chance the Rapper prides himself on offering iTunes’ first free album ever. The 2015 record Surf was released as part of his side project, Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, which the Chicago Tribune dubbed as “a hothouse of young musicians, songwriters, producers steeped not only in hip-hop, but in R&B, soul, jazz, funk, rock, and other subcultures.”

The album received rave reviews but, even more impressive, also made history. Chance took to Twitter to underscore this point while celebrating the two-year anniversary of Surf‘s release. Calling it the “first free album on [iTunes],” the rapper revealed that he “tried to get them to put ‘free’ instead of ‘get.'” However, it seems his influence only stretched so far. Still, the “Nothing Came to Me” musician proudly spoke about this collaborative effort during an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast in 2018, where he gave an inside look at his two-project deal with the music platform. It was quite lucrative for Chance despite the free output … but more on this below.

But is Chance the Rapper truly independent?

After making a big deal of refusing to sign with a record label, Chance the Rapper was hit with criticism about seemingly giving up his status as an independent artist when he agreed to a deal with Apple Music. “@apple gave me half a mil and a commercial to post Coloring Book exclusively on Apple Music for 2 weeks,” he tweeted in 2017 in an effort to clarify his contract. The musician added, “That was the extent of my deal, after two weeks it was on SoundCloud for free. I needed the money and they’re all good people over there.”

Chance later shared some more insight on the deal on The Joe Budden Podcast. “The whole Drake-Apple deal, which I feel like is closer to what you think my s**t is, they offered to me first,” he revealed. Elaborating that there was $20 million on the table for this two-project deal, the rapper said, “It would’ve been Surf and Coloring Book, but they wanted a solo Chance project and I didn’t have that at the time … If [Coloring Book] was [finished] on time, I would’ve got 20 million. But, it was off time, so I got $500,000.” Chance went on to justify, “They came to me, they said, ‘Here’s some money,’ which I used for advertising.'”

Chance the Rapper and Barack Obama go way back

During Barack Obama’s presidency, he and Chance the Rapper met on numerous occasions, from kicking it at a state dinner to discussing criminal justice reform. However, it turns out their friendship precedes the White House.

“Chance, I’ve known for years ’cause his dad was my state director when I was a senator in Illinois, so I first met Chance when he was eight years old,” Obama revealed during a 2016 interview with SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning (via Pitchfork). “And so we’ve been family for a while.” But that’s not all. According to Rolling Stone, Chance actually interned for Obama during his first presidential campaign and “even spent a day phone banking on his behalf.”

Former First Lady Michelle Obama later solidified just how close the two families have remained in a video message for the rapper at the 2017 BET Awards: “We have known Chance and his family since he was a wee little baby rapper, and it has been a thrill watching him come into his own in so many ways.”

You might want to start calling him Chance the Actor

In October 2016, Chance the Rapper told fans that he’d spent the entire summer … on a film set! Oh yes, the musician tried out his acting chops with a starring turn in Slice, a horror comedy feature film that was written and directed by one of his longtime collaborators, Austin Vesely.

Vesely had previously worked with Chance on a number of music videos and told the Chicago Tribune that he didn’t need to convince the Windy City native to give acting a try. “He basically told me that when the time comes that I could make something, he’d be there for me,” Vesely said. “So I wrote a role for him in the piece.”

Chance’s role in question was “a werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver.” As interesting as that might sound, the project unfortunately failed to mark his hot new career path as Chance the Actor. While garnering lukewarm reviews, the movie scored a mere 55 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just don't call Chance's music Christian rap

Chance the Rapper has never shied away from speaking about his Christian faith and its importance. However, he doesn’t necessarily want fans to think of his music as Christian rap. Given the religious sounds and themes regularly found in his songs, that might be easier said than done. After Rolling Stone called Coloring Book “a gospel-rap masterpiece,” for example, Chance told Teen Vogue that he didn’t really want that to happen.

“One of my biggest fears with Coloring Book was that it would be labeled,” the rapper said in 2017. “I never sought out for people to recognize it as a gospel album. I don’t make Christian rap, but I am a Christian rapper.” Explaining where the apprehension came from, Chance noted, “I feared that people would be dismissive of it, like, ‘This is Christian rap, I’m not trying to hear it.'”

Chance shared a similar message in a freestyle rap on Instagram the following year: “Everybody finally can say it out loud / Your favorite rapper’s a Christian rapper / And I got faith and my faith in my soul.”

The truth about why Chance the Rapper goes broke 'a lot'

He may be devoted to giving away his music for free, but Chance the Rapper sure knows how to make money. From merch to tours and lucrative business partnerships, he’s earned a nice chunk of change over the years, which actually landed him on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2017 with an estimated earning of $33 million.

This musician also knows how to spend it and confessed to GQ in 2017, “I go broke a lot.” That’s because Chance believes in putting everything he has into his career (not to mention his philanthropy) and trusts that it’s a worthy investment: “I have this understanding that whatever I put out there, if I really am doing what’s right, it’s going to be rewarding.” Illustrating his point, Chance recalled, “I remember sitting on the back of the bus on the first day of the Social Experiment tour, with my face in my hands. I emptied out my bank account, and before I did that tour, that was the number one thing I said I’d never do … But I put all that money up, and within two weeks, when everyone was getting paid, I was like, Okay, cool, we’re good again.”

When asked to name the last time he was broke, the rapper admitted it pretty much happens with every new record. “The same s**t happened with Surf,” Chance proclaimed. “And the same s**t happened with Coloring Book.”

Chance's signature hat is actually a form of rebellion

Chance the Rapper has become synonymous with his signature No. 3 cap, but it’s much more than a mere fashion statement. As the rapper told GQ, his affinity for caps started at a young age and never faded. “I used to always rock a cap when I was in high school and get them taken away,” he recalled. “It was an excessive amount. Like, so often that at the end of each school year, there would be a box of all the confiscated caps.” Chance noted, “I think, in one part, it’s a rebellion.”

As for the significance of the No. 3, it was born out of a desire to replace his go-to Chicago White Sox caps with something fresh. “I wanted to put something else on the hat. And so I decided to do 3,” Chance the Rapper told the media outlet. He added, “I rationalized it to myself that it stands for the third mixtape, the Holy Trinity, and the three-pronged family of myself, my daughter, and my girl.”

Chance the Rapper has a huge impact on brands

You know you’re doing something right when your influence extends to Corporate America. It started in May 2019 when Chance the Rapper tweeted out praise for Wendy’s, jokingly writing, “Positive Affirmations for today: I will have a good day, I will succeed today, Wendy’s will bring back spicy nuggets at some point please please Lord let it be today.” Not only did Wendy’s respond, but the company actually agreed to do just that … under one condition. “The people in charge say if you guys can get our tweet (this one right here) to 2 Million likes, they will bring SPICY CHICKEN NUGGETS BACK,” Wendy’s promised. It took less than 48 hours to get the necessary likes, but the spicy chicken nuggets were indeed back by that August.

So, it’s no surprise then that when Chance mentioned that he met his wife at a Re/Max party on the 2019 track “Zanies and Fools,” there was speculation about it boosting the brand. Chicago Business asked a marketing expert, who noted, “[It’s] the best sort of endorsement because Chance apparently isn’t being paid for this — he’s talking about Re/Max as part of his life, and as an important part of his life.” They added that this, in turn, could translate into positive brand recognition for his fans who might potentially think, “‘Wow, Re/Max. That’s a brand I should think about,'” when it comes time to shop for a home.

How Chance's wife's baptism 'saved' him

Chance the Rapper has made no secret of how important his faith is to him, but as he told Nicki Minaj on her Queen Radio show, it was actually his wife’s faith that helped him get through a low point in his life.

While discussing his 2019 album, The Big Day, Chance told his fellow rapper, “I need you to hear one song on my album that has my best verse that I written in my life. It’s called ‘We Go High.'” That’s because it’s an ode to his love, Kirsten Corley. “I explain that my wife literally saved my life by becoming celibate and going and getting baptized,” Chance revealed to Minaj. “It changed my life, for real. Now I know exactly where my strength comes from.”

The incident happened after Chance was apparently unfaithful and the pair temporarily split. Speaking about that time, the musician noted, “I had to do the Grammys by myself. I had to do a lot by myself. Then when my girl was gracious enough to have me back, it changed my whole life.”

Chance the Rapper once raised concerns for his safety

Shortly after the release of The Big Day, Chance the Rapper sparked major concern among his fan base when he sent out a series of since-deleted dark tweets in early August 2019. “I’m getting this crazy feeling that people want me to kill myself,” he wrote in part (via NME). “That’s not my vibe at all, but I feel the push … I feel like even more than that, some people want me to feel ashamed. Shame is heavy yo.” The rapper concluded, “The number one thing that’s been on my heart and has been reaffirmed in the last week that I’m now 100% sure of is… That I LOVE my wife.”

Chance later clarified that he wasn’t being literal — “I just want to reiterate that I don’t want to kill myself, nor am I ashamed of loving my wife” — but didn’t specify what had caused those initial feelings. According to speculation, it might have been the criticism he received for The Big Day (Slate, for example, noted, “It rarely feels particularly revelatory”), especially that which called him out for focusing too heavily on his marriage. “The Big Day is the sound of a man in love,” Rolling Stone proclaimed. “And sometimes that’s awesome.”

Did you notice Chance the Rapper's super secret on-screen role?

Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King in 2019 features an A-list musical cast, from Donald Glover to Beyoncé … but there is one celebrity you might not even notice is in the flick: Chance the Rapper.

Chance revealed his super secret — and super weird — role during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July 2019. The rapper explained that the on-and-off-screen gig came to be when his good friend, Donald Glover, told director Jon Favreau that Chance was a “huge fan” of the original flick. One thing led to another and he was eventually brought on as “a nostalgia consultant to tell [Favreau] what ’90s kids like about Lion King.”

That’s not all, though. “I did a little bit of slight vocal work on the animated film,” Chance revealed to the titular host, reassuring a laughing audience that he wasn’t kidding. “I do a lot of the background noises,” he proclaimed — noises like antelopes grazing. “I’m dead serious.”
