Corries original Simon Barlow stars look totally different 20 years after soap

Simon Barlow has been a regular character on Coronation Street for years, causing drama for his on-screen family.

Currently being played by Alex Bain, the character has been involved in multiple storylines including a horrific domestic abuse plot against his adoptive mum Leanne Battersby. He also has managed to tread into the world of drug dealing leaving him more vulnerable than ever.

But off-screen, Simon's original actors have been spotted in a completely new project. When Simon was first introduced to the show, the character was played by newborn twins Oscar and Jake Hartley in July of 2003.

The pair were swapped throughout their infant years, as Simon grew up in Weatherfield, but were eventually taken out of the Street, when on-screen dad Peter Barlow began to battle his alcoholism. Simon was reintroduced in 2008, instead being played by Bain.

But some twenty years after the pair were last on the cobbles, Jake and Oscar Hartley have been spotted in another project. Now all grown up, the twins are seen fighting to grab a pizza in a Domino's advertisement.

Posting a snap to their official Instagram accounts, the pair shared the ad, which also features Alex. The couple look completely different to their time on the ITV soap.

In the clip shared by the twosome, the pair battle each other as they try to squeeze through the hall to reach the door where the pizza delivery man is waiting. No holes are barred as they slap and push each other away.

Captioning the post, Jake and Oscar joking wrote: "DOMINOS – Tearing loved ones apart since 1985. It was a privilege and honour to work alongside some of the crew from Barbie, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Spider Man."

They also gave their thanks to their agents for the opportunity to be on television once again. They finished off the post by saying: "Also, a pleasure to meet such a great cast."

Since their small stint on Corrie, Oscar and Jake have been seen on several other shows. Some programmes they have starred in include Doctors, Mount Pleasant and The Other One, just to name a few.

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
