Liverpool cult hero Divock Origi lined up for stunning Premier League transfer return just 13 months after leaving | The Sun

BURNLEY are looking into a transfer for Belgian hitman Divock Origi after he was axed from AC Milan, according to reports.

The former Liverpool star landed at the Rossoneri last year as a free agent but is now set for a move away as the Italian side aims to offload players.

According to Foot Mercato, Burnley are keen to sign the 28-year-old who is reportedly training away from Milan's senior squad.

The Clarets are desperate for a forward after losing their two opening Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Origi could certainly add goals to the struggling side who won the Championship title last season.

Prior to joining the Italian club the Belgian star was a cult hero at Liverpool with a habit of scoring important goals.

He made over 100 appearances for the Reds and scored in the final of the 2019 Champions League leading his side to a famous victory.

But Origi has failed to make a breakthrough since joining Serie A side Milan, only scoring two goals in 36 games for Stefano Pioli’s squad last season.

AC Milan have had a busy summer welcoming new arrivals such as Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic and Valencia's Yunus Musah.

Now Pioli is desperate to get rid of unwanted players including Origi before Friday's 11pm transfer deadline.
