Major change to Olympics as new sport is confirmed for 2028 Los Angeles Games – but boxing is set to miss | The Sun

T20 CRICKET is set to be included in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

The International Olympic Committee's executive approved the sport on Friday.

IOC president Thomas Bach confirmed that the LA organisers' proposal to feature T20 cricket in the Games had been accepted.

It came following a meeting of the executive board in Mumbai.

Cricket has not been included in the Olympic Games since 1900 when Great Britain and France were the only two countries that competed – with GB winning gold.

T20 cricket is set to be one of five new sports at the Olympics.

The potential omission from the 2028 Olympics could have a damaging impact on the future of amateur boxing, with Muhammad Ali and Anthony Joshua just two future stars whose careers were launched at the Games.
