Unemployed Jesse Lingard shows off skills in training video with ex-Man Utd ace urged to complete Championship transfer | The Sun

UNEMPLOYED Jesse Lingard has provided another reminder of his talents as he searches for a new club.

And it led to a host of fans urging him to join their respective teams – including one from the Championship.

The former Manchester United star, 30, has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

He then trained with Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ettifaq in the hope of earning a contract after a spell at his old loan side West Ham.

Lingard had turned his back on a potential deal with the Hammers in order to pursue a Saudi move.

The England international spent a month with the Middle East outfit working alongside summer recruits Jordan Henderson, Moussa Dembele and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Unfortunately for him a deal was unable to be offered as their squad is full until at least January when they can shift some players out.

That has left Lingard training by himself since in order to keep himself in top shape.

The midfielder shared an update on his fitness last week as he searches for a new employer.

Now Lingard has followed that up by sharing a clip of himself performing a number of ball drills and finishing techniques as he continues to keep himself in shape.

He captioned the video with the words “keep pushing” and it soon led to a host of clubs' supporters urging him to sign for them – with one wanting him to have a reunion with an ex-United team-mate in the Championship.

A Birmingham City fan, where Lingard enjoyed a fruitful loan spell back in 2013 and who are now managed by United's all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney, responded by telling him: "Come home brother."

A fan of Middlesbrough, who are also in the Championship, replied that he “may aswell sign for @mfc.official till end of the season” before tagging boss Michael Carrick, another ex-United colleague of Lingard's, and telling him to “get on the phone”.

Another follower urged him “come to Rangers” as another wanted him to go join Lionel Messi in America as they commented: “Sign to Miami.”

Lingard managed two goals for Forest in all competitions during a disappointing campaign at the City Ground, both coming in the Carabao Cup.

In the Premier League, the former Red Devils ace appeared 17 times but failed to provide a goal or an assist following his free transfer arrival after his United deal expired in the summer of 2022.
