This is the shocking moment an out of control joyrider smashes into the back of a family’s vehicle in a stolen car before cowardly racing away from the scene.

Footage captured on a dash cam by Nextbase shows the full sickening impact of the collision which took place on a quiet country road in Kent.

Prior to the incident, the yob driver tears around erratically, closely following the recording car before overtaking at speed into oncoming traffic.

The car then speeds towards the vehicle ahead, colliding with its rear bumper and causing parts of it to fall across the road.

As the impacted car begins to pull over, the reckless driver continues to overtake it, again into oncoming traffic, causing an oncoming car to pull into the ditch to avoid a head-on-head collision.

The recording driver pulled over to check on the occupants of the rear-ended car, with a husband and wife with an elderly mother in the back seat.

Speaking after the incident, the driver who recorded the incident reported: ‘They were in complete shock and in disbelief of what had just happened to them, disoriented and unsure of what to do.

‘I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. Can only assume the driver was drunk or on drugs.’

‘The instinct to stay calm and help the people involved in the incident kicked in, all derived from my military service.

“I can only hope that the will law catch up with the perpetrator and justice will be served.’

Kent Police confirmed the offending vehicle was stolen.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Officers carried out enquiries and determined that the vehicle that left the scene had been reported stolen prior to the incident.

‘Therefore, officers were unable to identify who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

“Officers will review any new information which is passed to them.’
