A woman was fuming when she opened up her Too Good To Go box from Aldi.
Leah Smith, from Hamilton in Scotland, spent £3.30 on the TGTG bundle of fresh produce. The boxes are put together to stop unsold products from going to waste – and are meant to contain items “worth at least £10”.
But unfortunately, the supermarket shopper ended up feeling ripped off when she opened up the package. And that’s because it contained eight packs of “mixed leaf salad” that were due to go off that day.

She took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say: “Got an Aldi Too Good To Go [Box]. Eight salads.”
Leah also shared pictures of a few other items she received, which include eight panini roles, a packet of radishes, one green pepper and pak choi. Not much variety at all – and doesn’t seem worth a tenner either.
Thankfully, she was able to turn a negative into a positive though. She made lettuce soup by blending the salad leaves with garlic and cream – and the results looked pretty tasty.
The post, which has been viewed more than 1.4million times, garnered a mixed response. Many were sympathetic toward’s Leah’s predicament, with one writing: “The Aldi ones are like roulette.”
Another said: “This exact same thing happened to me! We got two bags and had four bags of salad in each.”
A third wrote: “Wow. I would be livid.” And a fourth added: “I literally got a box with nine tubs of hummus that went out of date the next day.”
But others advised Leah to check the box before taking it home. One commenter replied: “You could have asked for a refund in your TGTG you didn’t HAVE to take it…”
Another said: “You can reject them when you go and pick them up, you have to swipe on the app in front of a member of staff to confirm you’ve picked it up and can reject it there.”
Meanwhile, some commenters said they’d struck the jackpot when buying Aldi Too Good To Go boxes. So it does seem to be luck of the draw.
A X user said: “We got a crate with a full chicken, pizza dough, dough balls, etc.” And another revealed: “A customer at my store last week got a tomahawk steak from their bag, not to rub it in or anything.”
Daily Star contacted Aldi for comment.
