STARTING a weight loss journey doesn't have to mean packing days with bland salads and hours at the gym, waiting for the scale to budge.

Ana Zimmit, 32, told The U.S. Sun how she dropped 87 pounds and got abs after she stopped obsessing over what she ate and grew comfortable with her body as it was.

The self-described hype girl regularly shares her insights into her daily life on her social media platforms in an effort to motivate others.

The Montreal native spoke exclusively to The U.S. Sun about what has worked for her on her health journey.

"I've always had an issue with my weight. I've never felt really comfortable in my body, I felt like my weight always defined me," Ana said.

"It was always a constant conversation to the point where I couldn't eat or do anything in the day without directly thinking about that, which was all-consuming in my life."

Ana, who works for Amazon while building her motivational empire, shared how her body issues affected her day-to-day life.

She explained: "Even just having someone have a birthday or going to a wedding, it was like: 'Oh God, I have to wear an outfit, I have to go buy something.'

"And then there's the whole process of being in the changing room and crying because nothing fit and just not feeling good."

After ridding her wardrobe of clothes that no longer fit or that she hoped to fit into one day, Ana began to feel more comfortable in her skin.

"I emptied out my entire closet I had maybe 10 pieces left and I had eight XL black garbage bags of clothing and I donated everything [I could]," she said.

"I didn't even want to give it to my friends, which I had done in the past, because I couldn't see them in the clothes that I couldn't wear anymore.

"I remember standing in my closet and just bawling my eyes out crying and my friend asked what was wrong.

"I said: 'You have no idea how much weight is lifted, just getting rid of these clothes.'"

Finally feeling more at ease, Ana realized she was ready to have a baby.

She enjoyed her pregnancy, listening to her body and not restricting herself.

Ana explained: "I just went through each day as it was and I ended up gaining almost like 45 pounds by the end.

"On the day of my delivery, I was 265 pounds, which is a lot of strain on your body.

"I did not feel great, but I was getting comfortable in my skin."

After her C-section, Ana allowed herself the recommended three months to recover before she got active.

The new mom prioritized a healthy mindset over trying any diets that promised fast results.

"My first commitment to myself was to keep a promise to myself and have a commitment to stay consistent and disciplined in what I was doing," Ana said.

"That didn't mean restricting anything I was drinking.

"I was eating crepes with chocolate and burgers. I had Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and every event I went to enjoy.

"What I learned was the ability to not equate the number on the scale with my value and understood that if the scale went up, it was OK, it was just data."

She revealed that by giving herself a year instead of a tighter deadline, the pressure was lifted and she was allowed to enjoy life while losing weight.

"It not only changed my physical appearance but it opened so many doors for me and so much possibility because my brain was not focused on food," Ana said.

She was able to reconnect with her husband and family because she wasn't consumed with her appearance.

Ana, who now weighs 154 pounds, credited a nutrition plan with changing her physique but also explained that she "learned to give myself grace and I've learned to just enjoy life.

"Slowly the pounds started to come off, I had abs which I never had in my entire life and I just felt amazing."

Ana said that she had previously equated weight loss results with working out but now understands that a healthy mindset is what works for her.

In terms of her favorite weight loss-friendly meals, Ana has shared her go-to baked salmon recipe.

"Put your salmon in the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit with sesame oil or toasted sesame seeds.

"So I put konjac noodles or konjac rights as the base and put cucumbers, tomatoes, green onions, corn, or whatever fruits and vegetables that I have and throw that in."

She adds spicy mayo, lime juice, and sriracha before mixing the ingredients together and wrapping them in seaweed.

"It's the most delicious thing I've ever had," Ana revealed.

She also revealed the simple recipe for the sweet breakfast she is "obsessed with."

Ana added a crushed-up protein bar to yogurt and topped it off with diced fruit and maple syrup.
