Once you've opened an account and switched you'll need to set up two direct debits to ensure you're paid the £200 in free cash within 10 days.

If you have money in your account, the 5% interest rate is a great perk for any current account.

It's paid for the first 12 months on balances up to a maximum of £1,500.

If you're eligible you'll get an interest-free overdraft for the first year.

After that, you'll be charged interest at 39.9%.

You can only benefit from the offer if you've never had any sort of account, loan, mortgage or other First Direct product.

If you've opened a current account with HSBC on or after 1 January 2020, you also can't apply.

The account offers access to a linked savings account paying 7% interest on the first £300 saved every month.

Lloyds Bank

  • £175 cash, plus choose a reward of 12 months of Disney+, cinema tickets or a magazine subscription

You can earn £175 free by signing up to the bank's Club Lloyds current account.

The money is then paid within three working days of completing the switch.

You'll need to pay in a minimum of £2,000 a month or pay a £3 a month account fee.

Plus you can choose from 12 months of Disney+, six cinema tickets, a Coffee Club & Gourmet Society membership or a magazine subscription.

How do I switch bank account?

It's easy to switch your bank account using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS).

You don't have to remember to move direct debits over when moving as it does this everything for you.

All you have to do is apply for the new account you want and the new bank will let your existing provider know you're moving.

There are some steps you can take before switching though, such as choosing your switch date, or organising transferring your old bank statements to your new account.

To get your old statements you should get in touch with your bank.

How can I find the best bank accounts?

If you're not fussed by cashback or free cash perks and are more interested in other benefits of switching, don't waste time looking at individual banking sites – it'll take you an eternity.
