EastEnders star cast in another soap after Dotty Cotton's exit

Former EastEnders star Milly Zero has been cast in Doctors, months after her exit as Dotty Cotton.

The actress, 24, will feature alongside Bharti Patel, who plays midwife Ruhma Carter, in an episode called The Stolen Child.

Milly will portray Lisa Gillespie, with images showing the character wearing a white shirt and jumper – a definite contrast to what her EastEnders character would wear!

Metro.co.uk understands that Lisa is a young mother, who will ask Ruhma for help within the episode.

Since leaving EastEnders, Milly has gone on to appear in a theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performing with Hollywood’s Jonathan Hyde and Kerry Ellis.

Milly’s final scenes aired just before Christmas last year, having announced her departure a month before that on her Instagram.

‘After three and a half years, I have decided my journey with the icon that is Dotty Cotton has come to an end,’ she said. ‘I can’t tell you how life changing and incredible my time at EastEnders has been, and how much I am going to miss it.’

In the aftermath of the death of Dot Cotton (June Brown), Dotty was hoping that Dot’s house would be left to her in her will and was looking forward to getting her hands on the cash after selling it.

When she discovered that Dot had instead left the house to Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) she lashed out, and attempted to set the place on fire.

She was prevented from doing this by Rocky (Brian Conley), but realised there wasn’t anything left for her in Walford and left the Square.
